Man rescued after Markham house fire

A man was taken to hospital after a house fire in Markham on Monday morning.
His injuries are considered minor.
The fire began on Eastpine Drive, near Kennedy Road north of Steeles Avenue, around 1:30 a.m.
The fire was confined to a single home, but two neighbouring houses were evacuated as a precaution.
It’s not yet known how the fire began or the estimated cost of the damage.
