Teen taken to hospital during party at Harper’s residence

An 18-year-old girl was taken to hospital for alcohol intoxication during a party at Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s official residence in Ottawa, according to reports.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed to Parliament Hill reporter Cormac MacSweeney that paramedics were called to 24 Sussex Dr. on Saturday.

Reports say the woman had a suspected case of alcohol poisoning.

The legal drinking age in Ontario is 19, although it is not clear at this point if the teen had alcohol at the party or was intoxicated when she arrived.

The RCMP, which oversees security at the residence, confirmed the girl is not a member of the prime minister’s family and said it was a medical call and not a police matter.

“I have nothing to add to your story,” a spokesperson with the Prime Minister’s Office told MacSweeney when asked questions related to the incident.
