Man arrested in North York sex assault & robbery, 2nd suspect sought

Toronto police have arrested one man and are on the search for a second suspect in connection with an alleged sexual assault and robbery in North York.

Police said a 24-year-old woman was walking in the Chalkfarm Drive and Jane Street area around 2:40 a.m. on Sunday when she was approached by two men.

They led her into a wooded here and then allegedly sexual assaulted her and stole her belongings. The suspects fled the area on foot.

Jean Bertie, 32, of Toronto, faces charges of robbery, gang sexual assault, and sexual assault.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

The second suspect is described as black, 19 years old, around five-feet nine-inches to five-feet 10-inches tall, with a thin build, and short black hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans.
