Man dead after hit-and-run on St. Clair West

A 31-year-old man has died after a hit-and-run in the west end early Saturday morning.

It happened around 5 a.m. on St. Clair Avenue West at Mondovi Gate, west of Keele Street.

Police said he had been revived by the time he got to Sunnybrook hospital and was later pronounced dead.

A witness told police the driver fled west in a grey or silver van.

Police say the vehicle was then in the west Toronto area and an arrest is anticipated.

Three other pedestrians are in hospital after they were also hit by vehicles in Toronto.

Around 1 a.m., a 16-year-old girl was hit by a car on Bathurst Street, south of St. Clair.

She had just stepped out of a taxi and was trying to cross the street when she was hit by a southbound Toyota Camry driven by a 20-year-old woman.

The teen was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

At about the same time, a 63-year-old man was seriously injured by a vehicle at Warden and Lawrence avenues in Scarborough.

And a woman in her 40s was taken to Sunnybrook hospital with serious head injuries after she was hit by a vehicle at Wilson Heights Boulevard and Reiner Road, near Sheppard Avenue West, around 11 a.m.

Toronto EMS said she will survive.
