Numerous coyote sightings reported in Ajax

Durham police have received several calls about coyote sightings in Ajax over the past month.

Though coyotes are generally shy animals and have not attacked any humans in Ontario, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources, police said residents should take precautions.

Small children, babies and pets shouldn’t be left unattended outdoors, especially between dusk and dawn when coyotes are most active.

Residents should also put their trash away and clean up after their dogs as coyotes are attracted to the feces.
