Driver charged after fatal crash in Scarborough

A Toronto man faces several charges including impaired driving causing death after a fatal two-vehicle collision in Scarborough.

The crash occurred on Ellesmere Road at Orton Park Road around 7 p.m. on Monday.

One driver, a 25-year-old man, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

The other driver was taken into police custody.

Matthew Habte, 21, was charged with dangerous driving causing death, criminal negligence causing death and impaired driving causing death. He also faces a charge for refusing to provide a breath sample causing death.

He was scheduled to make a court appearance on Tuesday.
