Elderly man dies after Parkdale apartment fire

An elderly man is dead and three other people are injured after fire broke out at an apartment in Parkdale, paramedics say.
Emergency crews arrived on scene on Dunn Avenue by Queen Street West and Lansdowne Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Fire officials say crews were confronted with heavy black smoke as they pulled one victim out of the unit on the eleventh floor. A second victim was found in the hall way near the unit.
Paramedics say the man was rushed to hospital without vital signs where he was pronounced dead.
A man in his 50s suffered life-threatening injuries.
Another woman suffered serious smoke inhalation. A fourth person was treated on scene for minor injuries.
Police have closed Queen Street West between Brock and Lansdowne avenues while officials investigate.
