Pedestrian struck on Hwy. 401 near Port Hope has died

A male pedestrian, who was struck on Highway 401 near Port Hope early Friday afternoon, has died, the OPP says.
The eastbound lanes of Hwy. 401 are expected to be closed for several hours while police investigate.
Police say the male victim has not been identified and the driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
They are asking for motorists’ patience and co-operation while travelling through the area as traffic is expected to be backed up on detour routes because of the afternoon commute and the start of the winter break.
