TTC promises Wi-Fi on portion of Line 1 and new uniforms by end of fall

The TTC is committing to having Wi-Fi enabled on Line 1 (Yonge-University Spadina) from St. George to Bloor-Yonge stations by the end of March.

The promise comes as part of the commission’s 38-point 2015 Customer Charter unveiled on Friday afternoon.

The charter reaffirms an overall commitment to reliability, accessibility, accountability, and safety.

It also includes 34 detailed promises, which TTC spokesperson Brad Ross tweeted will “make the TTC experience a better one this year.”

Many of the provisions are already underway, including the recently announced plan to implement Presto and allow all-door boarding on all streetcars by the end of 2015.

The TTC is also promising to outfit all staff in new uniforms by October and install blue priority seats on 90 per cent of their fleet by the end of the year.

TTC Chair Josh Colle, along with chief customer officer Chris Upfold, unveiled the third annual customer charter at Bloor-Yonge station at noon on Friday.

The charter will keep the TTC’s feet to the fire and offer “a level of accountability you don’t see in many city agencies,” Colle said.

Byford has made transparency a key part of his tenure at the TTC.

The TTC released its first charter in February of 2013.
