5 moments from Leonard Nimoy’s career after ‘Star Trek’

Leonard Nimoy passed away at the age of 83 on Friday, but he leaves behind an indelible mark on the entertainment world.

Nimoy’s impact on pop culture may have began with his portrayal of Mr. Spock in Star Trek, but the actor showed he was much more than a pair of pointy ears.

Here are some of Nimoy’s most memorable moments caught on video after Star Trek.

Some actors get upset when the iconic characters they play leaves them vulnerable to typecasting. It seems Nimoy took a logical approach to this. Despite the show only lasting three seasons, Nimoy reprised his role in seven of the Star Trek movies and appeared on countless versions of the franchise’s shows.

He also had a good sense of humor about his most famous part, joining Spock from the recent franchise reboot, Zachary Quinto, in this ad for Audi:

Nimoy appeared as himself on the popular animated series twice, once as a grand marshal and passenger on the ill-fated Monorail:

In the other, he hosted an episode that had a paranormal theme, not unlike his In Search of… role:

William Shatner wasn’t the only Star Trek alum to take a crack at a music career. But instead of talking his lyrics, Nimoy sang. He did covers, too — like this Johnny Cash classic — but also sang original work and even had a music video of sorts for The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins.

In Search of…

Nimoy lent his distinctive voice to the popular science-fiction program which examined such topics as the paranormal, folklore and historical events and ran from 1977 to 1982.
