Anchor & Reporter, Breakfast Television
A passion for news and current events, Melanie Ng has been reporting on and anchoring local, national and international stories since 2008.
Since joining CityNews in 2010, Melanie has covered some of the biggest events to hit Toronto and the GTA. From moderating political debates to anchoring Toronto International Film Festival red carpet coverage, Melanie’s biggest strength is her versatility.
Melanie was the face of the CityNews weekend newscasts before helping re-launch CityNews “The 5″ in 2013 as a co-anchor.
Prior to that, she anchored the news for Breakfast Television, Toronto’s #1 morning show, where she also reported live on-location on the morning’s top stories, and co-hosted segments with Breakfast Television hosts. Melanie returned to her morning show family in 2015.
Before joining City, Melanie worked for CHCH News, and local Ontario radio stations in such roles as reporter, videographer, and weekend news anchor. Before pursuing a career in broadcast journalism, she worked in public relations.
Hailing from Oakville, ON, Melanie graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a double honours degree in Communications Studies and English, and a minor in History. She also holds a certificate in Public Relations from Humber College and a certificate in Broadcast Journalism from Seneca College.
